About Friends

The Friends of West Hill is a committee of parent volunteers, who have children in all areas of the school, from the Nursery to Year 8.

We usually run one or two event per term, a mixture of children's, parents' and whole family activities. These are mostly fundraising but some are just for fun.

Recent events have included the Summer Fete, a Children's disco, Family Beetle Drive, a Family Walk & BBQ lunch, Parents' Christmas and Spring Dances, a Tartan Ball and a Wine Tasting and Supper.

What We Do - There are usually about 10 people on the committee. We also have, and need, other “helpers” who may not wish to join the committee, but are willing to help with some of the bigger events on the day.

With the money raised we donate some to charity – we're currently supporting a school in Kenya - but most funds go to projects within the school to benefit our own children –“ the extras”.

In the past few years we have raised, and spent about £4,000 per year. Recent purchases include:

Laser cutter for the DT department
Tennis wall
Gas BBQ for the boarders
Outdoor furniture for the Nursery department
Printing press for the Art department
Playground equipment for the Pre-Prep department

Our current project is to help with the improvement of the Cellars (a children's social area in the Prep School).
