High quality pastoral care is the foundation on which all progress is based at West Hill Park. It is our aim to create an environment in which children feel safe, valued and respected.
There are a number of different frameworks within the school that enable our pupils to gain the social skills and emotional literacy that will foster their self-esteem and provide a solid foundation for their future lives.
Our Tutor System, with its daily points of contact and small numbers, allows us to build up good relationships with our pupils and nurture them through every stage of school life. In turn, Heads of Double Year take delegated responsibility for managing the lives of our pupils through close contact with the Tutors and Housemaster, the children themselves and their parents.
Pupils are also assigned to one of three Houses on entering the Prep School. During the year, there is a wide range of academic, musical and sporting competition for the Houses. All of these are geared towards generating camaraderie and support amongst boys and girls of all year groups in the same House, as well as giving children a further opportunity to be part of a team.
Our comprehensive PSHE programme introduces discussion of relevant topics throughout the school but above all, it is the easy rapport between our pupils and a professional and caring staff that helps children to emerge from West Hill Park as informed, confident and considerate individuals.
