Sport

Sport is an integral part of the curriculum at West Hill Park and it is our aim to foster a love of games, irrespective of children's ability, that will stay with them throughout their lives.

We are fortunate to be able to offer first-class facilities such as our floodlit Astroturf, large Sports Hall and indoor swimming pool, in addition to knowledgeable and experienced coaching staff, all of which help to make games sessions dynamic and enjoyable.

 

As a school, we play to win but we place equal emphasis on the values of teamwork and sportsmanship. We look to make fixtures with other schools that will get as many of our children playing as possible and we field teams in rugby, girls' hockey, boys' hockey, netball, cricket, swimming, girls' tennis, boys' tennis, athletics and rounders during the course of the year. Horse riding is available on site with a small yard, floodlit arena and qualified instructor and we have recently completed a purpose-built dance studio and fencing salle, helping to broaden further the range of sporting experience available to pupils at West Hill Park.

 

Games sessions take place for just over an hour four times a week, with matches being played on Wednesday and Saturday afternoons. Fixtures are introduced gradually as pupils move through the school with a full programme of matches in place by Year 6. Internal House matches are also very keenly contested and provide a further opportunity for all our boys and girls to extend themselves in a competitive environment.
