Parents, ways to become involved

As a School we are proud of the opportunities we have to work with parents as a team to support the children in our care. All staff operate an ’open door’ policy where possible and will offer more formal appointments where necessary.

Wednesday morning Assemblies

Parents are invited each Wednesday to join us for assembly, between 0830 and 0850. They will have the chance to hear a visiting speaker, enjoy a short musical performance and celebrate with us the achievements of our pupils followed by a coffee and a chat in the Old Library.

The Friends of West Hill Park

The Friends are a group of parents who work together to raise money but, more importantly, arrange social events for the whole school community throughout the year. New committee members are always welcome. Email:

West Hill Park Community Choir

All singers are invited to join this adult choir which meets on a Thursday evening each week. The choir takes part in various festivals, competitions and concerts at school.

Jazz Nights

An evening of informal music for all the family usually happen once each term, professional jazz musicians perform alongside staff and pupils.

Staff and Parents sporting activities

Tennis and Cricket seem to be the regular and favorite events but 5 a side football and circuit training sessions have been on offer from time to time.

Supporting in the Outdoor classroom

Many parents do get involved and help out with the various outdoor days arranged for the pupils throughout the Year.

If you have special interest or skill that could be shared with the children, please discuss the possibilities with us.

Newsletters Facebook, Twitter and Blogs

Where possible we try to keep parents up to date with what is going on in School with regular tweets, Facebook entries and blogs as well the more conventional newsletters.
