Early Years EYFS Foundation Stage

Located within a beautiful natural setting, West Hill Park Early Years Centre provides a secure, friendly and stimulating learning environment where children develop as individuals. Through our EYFS Ethos and Aims we provide a consistently high standard of care and education. Children can join our Early Years Nursery from 2 years 9 months and then transition to our Infant school classes (Reception) in the September following their fourth birthday. In the Nursery children may attend full time or part time but for continuity we encourage a minimum of three sessions.

All children bring with them a range of experiences, interests and abilities. The uniqueness of each child is valued and their individuality is developed and celebrated. Our children are taught in small groups and cared for by a very experienced and well qualified team of teachers and Early Years assistants. In their Key Person role, the adults place emphasis on helping each child to develop their self-confidence, self-assurance, independence and personal and social skills.

What can Early Years Nursery and Reception offer my child?

Our broad and balanced curriculum enables children to follow their own interests which are then enriched by our wonderful team of specialist teachers. We are proud to offer valuable experiences for the children to develop their skills through our enhanced provisions; Beach school, Forest school and Bushcraft, swimming, music, French and gymnastics and Extra-curricular activities.

What additional childcare/day care is available outside the core school day?

The Early Years Centre offers the before and after school care, as well as the Holiday Club Provision. Early Years Assistants run these provisions to allow for continuity of care for the children. As an alternative to after school care, pre-booked extra-curricular activities are available for Reception children. These activities cater for a wide range of interests from cosmic yoga to ‘where in the world’!

What is the provision during the school holidays?

The Holiday Club is based in our Early Years Centre and is available for pupils up to the age of four years. The Club offers a variety of fun and imaginative games and activities, allowing children to discover new interests and make new friends. Children are cared for by qualified members of staff who are dedicated to the care and welfare of each and every child who attends.
