Music

At West Hill Park we engage children in a variety of musical work, ranging from singing and performing in school productions to class and concert performances as well as important annual events and services. Involvement in music can lead to the development of many valuable life-skills such as self-confidence, intuition and sensitivity towards others as well as muscular and hand/eye coordination, concentration and listening skills.

The Music Department is housed in a purpose-built suite comprising a large classroom and a set of smaller teaching and practice rooms. We also have a large concert hall, two grand pianos and a variety of performance areas. Individual tuition is offered in a wide range of instruments as well as singing, theory and practical musicianship. Children are encouraged to study for external music exams and we host regular visits from the ABRSM examiner. We run a huge number of extra-curricular music activities during break times and lunch times. We also enjoy a wide programme of varied music concerts and social events and many children appear at music festivals throughout the year.
